Howard Hook Speaks to Hadassah Members About Charitable Giving Strategies

Fee-only financial planner, Howard Hook, recently spoke at a Hadassah Southern New Jersey virtual event on “Taxes and Giving Strategies with Your IRA.” He shared practical ways to use IRA distributions to support charities while reducing taxes, offering members valuable insight into aligning giving with personal values and financial goals.

We are pleased to share that Howard Hook, CFP®, CPA, CAP®, was a featured speaker at a virtual event hosted by Hadassah Southern New Jersey.

The name of the program was “Taxes and Giving Strategies with Your IRA.”

Lisa Smith, JD, the Chief Planning, Giving & Estates Officer at Hadassah, joined Hook.

They discussed how to use Required Minimum Distributions from an IRA to make gifts to Hadassah. The event offered valuable insights for individuals and families seeking to align their giving with both their personal values and financial objectives.

Hook is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, Certified Public Accountant, and a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy. He teaches at the Princeton Adult School and is very involved with his synagogue, Shomrei Torah in Wayne, NJ. There, he serves as the current Treasurer, is a member of the Finance Committee, and was previously the Vice President of Finance and Fundraising.
